From The Plane

In St. Thomas, passengers deplane directly onto the runway. From there you walk about 200 yards along a sidewalk outside the airport into the baggage claim area. There is a bathroom directly to the left as you enter and don’t pass up the free Cruzan Rum samples that the Department of Tourism Greeters are handing out!  If you need cash for a taxi, (they don’t accept credit cards here) the ATM is located just to the left of the doors facing you as you enter the building.

Luggage

During the busier times of the year, the afternoon hours will find the baggage claim area bustling with the hundreds of passengers from 3 or 4 flights that have landed at once. It can take an additional 30 or 40 minutes for checked bags to appear on the carousel, so if getting to your catamaran or to a ferry is a priority for you, we highly recommend only packing carry-on luggage!

Just outside of the baggage claim area, you will find all of the taxis lined up ready to shuttle guests to their next destination. Tell the taxi dispatcher sitting at his desk where you are going, and he will direct you to the appropriate taxi van.

In St. Thomas the taxi vans charge a flat rate between destinations, plus an additional fee for bags. Make sure and ask the dispatcher how much the rate will be for the number of guests/bags that are in your party.

To Your Ferry

Once in your taxi van it is a good idea to call your charter Captain and let him know you are on your way That way they will know to be waiting at your pre-arranged meeting point

If you are boarding your charter yacht in Tortola, BVI, that ferry terminal is located about 10 minutes from the airport.

If you are boarding your charter yacht at Compass Pt Marina, that is located about 25 minutes from the airport.

The other departure point, American Yacht Harbor Marina is 30 minutes away. On heavy traffic days you can add 5 to 10 minutes to these approximate times. !
